Well, I made some changes to the paint shop with the help of my friend Randy Williams. I wanted to make the paint shop so that it could be easily moved out of the way to make space for the Zenith fuselage arriving in February, but still need it available for priming.
I purchase another $100 hoist with wireless remote and fixed it up under the roof above the 12 ft rear door.
The whole paint shop is attached with loosely tightened bolts so that the roof frame can be swiveled up against the back wall and the two uprights that support the roof in the middle of the workshop floor fold back as the roof is raised.
I had some concern as the RV-10 tail, which is also currently suspended from the roof, is too close to the back wall so if the paint shop hoist gave way the paint shop would crash into the RV-10 tail. Not a good plan. So the day after installing and raising the paint shop I attached safety chains on both sides of the frame to keep it from falling onto the RV-10 tail.
Here are a couple of photos of the paint shop once I had completed the hoist installation. I was going to add a short video but I already had the shop folded up and the RV-10 tail raised up to the roof. At present I have to lower the RV-10 tail and hold it out of the way while I lower the paint shop into position so I will make a short video when next I want to lower the RV-10.
Total cost I think was somewhere around $150 as I had some lumber and the plastic and used the tail crate from Zenith for the remaining lumber so the biggest cost was the hoist.
Well, the one pic is of the extraction fan. When I am going to spray I put the extraction fan between the two rear sliding doors and slide them up against the extraction fan frame. I may add another blower or extraction fan in the future.
Also, as I am spraying Sherwin Williams P60G2 I wear a tyvek suit and face mask as a minimum, plus latex gloves, but will likely wear a respirator when I am doing a lot of spraying and there may be particulate hanging in the air.
