I started by taking the rear spar assembly back outside into my “paint booth” and touching up some of the edges missed during initial priming. I had bought 4 rattle cans of Zinc Phosphate primer for “just in case” purposes and also to spray parts that were not big enough to warrant mixing up P60. This turned out to be really a good idea. I also bought one of those rattle can spray handles from Home Despot as my right hand is still a bit weak from surgery 18 months ago. Another good $15 investment as it makes the cans much easier to handle and therefore better spraying results.
I drilled out holes for the HS-1008 on my drill press which is on a different bench. Another cheapo tool from harbor freight but it works perfectly well for my purposes. You can see that I am comparing the two brackets to see how similar they are and whether the holes match (they should if all the measuring was accurate).
You can see I used my back riveting plate as a level surface for making the necessary measurements on the HS-1008 brackets. The ruler I am using is an engineering ruler from McMaster Carr.
Despite punching each marker and then turning the chuck by hand to start the drilling I think one of my 3/16th holes in the plate is a little off. The instructions don’t mention this as being critical and after checking it is clear that the part to which it is bolted is match drilled to these holes so perfect location is not absolutely critical.
