Today was really a repeat of much of yesterday, completing the Vans RV-10 elevator assembly with final riveting of the elevator trailing edge, inside sheer tab and the six rivets into the outside counterbalance rib. This followed by completing the trimming and installation of the hinge on the trim tab and elevator and then reassembling the hinge by inserting the hinge pin.
As mentioned in yesterday’s entry, although I did use safety wire to hold the hinge pin in place I have ordered #6 nut plates and screws to secure a hinge eye which will hold the hinge pin in place.
Given that this process is essentially identical to that already described I am just adding a few snapshots here of the left elevator assembly. You will not my two handy helpers, EJ & Ty, showed up today to give me a hand.
