In reality, more time was spent on this process, VANS RV-10 tailcone assembly because EJ & Ty had arrived at 12:30 and EJ started by assembling the various parts for the tailcone to remove the vinyl and deburr each in preparation. So at 14:20 I was ready to separate F-1055 rudder stop skin stiffeners, per step 4, he had already marked and to trim the F-1056 rudder stop brace per step 6 on page 10-8.
The instructions say to setup a sawhorse on which to place the F-1078 skin so you can assemble the bulkheads and stiffeners. I did not have any sawhorses so I suggested using the bar stools but that turned out to be too rickety so we used some 2 x 4 x 8′ and the long thin crate in which some of the parts had been shipped to make a couple of saw horses. Worked out just fine.
Ty and I made the 2° bends in the F-1023-R and L per the instructions on page 10-6 step 2. It turns out the angle bends fairly easily with the proper pre-loading so don’t overdo it.
Ty and I worked on getting the 2° bend correct.
Then came the assembly of the tailcone, along with making the sawhorses. The instructions say at least 38 inches high, we mad them 43 inches.
That’s the Vans RV-10 tailcone assembly so far.
